Which credit cards can be used?
Any Visa, MasterCard, or UnionPay credit cards issued in Hong Kong can be used.
When should I pay the rent?
Generally, the rent will reach the landlord’s bank account on the third working day after the transaction is completed. Therefore, we recommend paying the rent via the app three working days before the due date. Our payment cutoff time is 11:00 PM on working days.
What documents are needed for lease approval?
You can provide a formal lease agreement, stamp duty notification, or a new lease, re-negotiation agreement notification (CR109) or lease notification (AR2) for approval purposes. Uploaded documents must clearly show the names of both parties, property address, rent amount, and lease period.
How long does it take for lease approval?
Lease approval usually takes 1-2 working days. However, if you can confirm that the lease and information provided are correct, you can make an advance payment, and we will complete the lease approval before the rent transfer. If there are any issues, we will contact you immediately.
How many points can be accumulated?
Transactions via RentSmart are classified as online spending by our partner card issuers, but the amount of points accumulated depends on the credit card you use. Please refer to your card issuer’s official website and terms for details.
What are the benefits of paying rent with a credit card?
Besides earning credit card points, you can also enjoy the interest-free repayment period provided by the bank, making your cash flow more abundant and daily expenses more flexible.
Do I need the landlord’s consent before using it?
You do not need to disturb the landlord or get their consent beforehand. However, we recommend notifying the landlord after using RentSmart for the first time. We will also send a text message to the landlord when the rent is credited.
Is there a rent limit?
We do not set a maximum rent limit, but the amount payable is limited by the available credit limit or transaction limit of the credit card you use.
Do I need to be the tenant myself?
You do not need to be the tenant yourself, but you must clearly declare your relationship with the tenant.
Are there transaction records?
After the rent is successfully paid to the landlord, the customer will receive a rent transaction receipt issued by RentSmart, which can be shown to the landlord as proof of payment.
What should I do if the rent amount changes?
If there is a temporary rent adjustment, you can make changes to your rental summary when making the payment.
